Birch Trees and Snow

Port Washington Adult Community Center, 403 Foster St. 

  Birch trees are magical in the winter as their trunks are in full glory against the blue sky. Crisp snow shadows often echo the trunk and branch designs.  Bring your watercolor supplies and a photo. 

Paint supplies included for first session beginners!

5 students minimum. Limit of 10 students.

Watercolor-Mysteries behind the Medium

Wednesdays

For all adult ages, beginners & intermediate painters.  


You won’t want to miss this workshop which is full of valuable learning! The first class will explore how to identify and use transparent and opaque colors and create strong values by painting your own charts. Class two will include a detailed demo and laying out of your painting. Bring your favorite photo to work with. The rest of the classes will focus on finishing your painting. Beginner, intermediate and any residency welcomed. Class Fee $45.

Supplies: Super Thick Sharpie, ruler, watercolor supplies, 8”x10” or 9”x12” watercolor paper, your own photo or one taken from a site that specifically offers free photos (copyright is then lifted).

Discover how to create flesh tones and paint from a photo of a loved one or a friend. 

Supplies: 

8"x 10" photo of a face. 

Round brushes: approximately #8 & #4

5 small containers with tight lids

Rose Madder Genuine

New Gamboge

Cobalt Blue

Raw Umber

Burnt Sienna

Optional: Watercolor Blending Medium

Whatever you decide, compose by cropping photo of a family member or friend, 

then transferring it to your watercolor paper using a grid system.  


With a limited palette you will be surprised that you can paint people!
